Website summary

This website is focused mainly on the Downpatrick Scout Group. Included in the design of the site there is a number of videos that allow the user to engage in a unique information experience. Navigation on the website is simple and clear and user friendly as the target audience is a wide variety raging from 10 - 50+. The main objective of the website is to allow users to gain information that the members, parents and other members of the community might not be aware of. The website has a number of different category's such as beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Ventures, Gallery, Leaders, hall and event. These cover the main information regarding the headings but will filter into other areas in sub pages with further features. The features that are included are camping, badges, events, joining the scouts, volunteering, information and resources, calendar and galleries. The website also features videos I will I have recorded. I did this by attending meetings and filming different scouting activities e.g. how to achieve different knots, building a fire etc. These video can be found under the link "video gallery" of the website.

All About Me.... Andrea McQuoid

Downpatrick Scouts was designed and developed by me, Andrea McQuoid. I will soon be graduating from the the University of Ulster with a degree in Interactive Multimedia Design, which I have been studying for four years. By completing this course I have grown to have a passion for design, both designing websites and graphic design. I decided that I would develop this site for the Downpatrick Scouts as I have been apart of the organisation for a number of years and I felt that by them not being available on line was effecting them there for my major project was a solution to there problem. Contributions I would like to take this opportunity to thank those that have contributed to the development of this website. Those people are Liam Byrne who gave me information on the scouts and helped with the content. Sarah Taggart who provided images that needed to be included in the site. And all the scout leaders who allowed me to join in on there meetings to take videos and pictures.

Tools and Resources

To develop my website I have used HTML/HTML5 features. Css3 for the design for website. jQuey is used to make the site interactive and pleasant to use. PHP for the content such as forms. I also used Perch for my content management as this allowed me the freedom to constantly change content with out it effecting the design.
